Join us for an amazing opportunity for both children and adult adoptees to visit their birth country. Led by ASIA Families Executive Director, Grace Song, the Korea Bridge Tour brings together our knowledge of the language, travel, culture, and international adoption experiences to offer you the trip of a lifetime. Barker staff will be available to provide counseling support while we are in Korea and to provide support to prepare emotionally for the trip. Homeland Trips can bring up many emotions for participants traveling and those those adoptees who want to pursue a birth family search and/or reunion While on the trip the journey can be even more complex and emotional. Barker will provide counseling and support to families that are planning to do a search. The counseling will offered to you before the tour and during. If you plan to register and attend the trip and want more information about search services, please directly contact Grace Song at Asia Families. If you do not have any identifying information about your birth family, Asia Families can provide you with some next steps as to what you can do to possibly search.
While on the trip all counseling and support by our adoption-competent therapist is included in your package price. For counseling preparation before the trip, there is a fee. Korea Tour Details
Dates: Tuesday, June 18 – Friday, June 28, 2024
The intinerary Includes attractions and shopping in Seoul, trips to Gyeongju and Busan, an evening with North Korean defector students, and two additional free days in Seoul.
What if we adopted our child from somewhere other than Barker?
Tours are open to all adoptive families regardless of whether Barker was your placing agency.
What can I expect in terms of support while we are preparing for our trip?
Barker Post-Adoption staff will be traveling along with ASIA families staff to provide families with clinical support for this once in a lifetime experience. In addition, counseling will be offered to families before the tour and during the tour. For families interested in doing a search while in Korea, Barker will provide counseling and support! Tour Cost Details
The tour cost is $4000 per person which includes all lodging, most meals except on free days or when you are in marketplaces, charter bus transportation, all admission fees to attractions, and post adoption services assistance during the trip.
The tour fee does not include roundtrip airfare, side trip expenses, gifts or personal shopping, and mandatory traveler’s insurance.
